For many years now my family has been dealing with the unpleasant fear that our son has a drinking problem. How exactly do you go about confronting a son who is of adult age with your concerns and more important, how do you go about getting him the help he so desperately needs?
Like in many cases, it all comes into focus when it is almost too late
My family was lucky for two reasons: first when he finally had such serious medical problems he had to be hospitalized, he was lucky not to die. Secondly, it was at this time that we found Gianna Yunker who agreed to provide the help the entire family desperately needed.
No one in our family was in any way knowledgeable of what kind of services were available to provide us with the necessary guidance to help our son. But we were lucky to find Gianna Yonker who not only helped guide us through the the process of understanding the issues of alcoholism but also provided us with the proper steps of understanding what our son needed for support as well as what he did not need.
Basically she guided us through the entire process while gaining the trust of our son and creating a relationship with him which helped keep the family in a coordinated action plan of recovery.
I am afraid to think of what could have transpired, had we not had Gianna to guide us. For anyone going through the gut wrenching trials and tribulations of a family members alcoholism, I can not recommend anyone more capable of helping everyone involved in the proper process of dealing with this difficult situation then Gianna. I think she saved our son and our family!
My sister found Gianna, and I was initially hesitant to go the route of paying an interventionist—solely because I didn’t feel our loved one would respond well to the idea of being confronted about their drinking. But I followed her lead, and I’ve already said to a few people that Gianna was worth her weight in gold.
The structure she put in place wasn’t about shaming or forcing change—it was about creating a safe, compassionate space where our loved one could truly hear us. Gianna’s approach is rooted in love, respect, and understanding. She guided us through incredibly difficult conversations with empathy and wisdom, ensuring that every step of the process came from a place of care rather than criticism.
She didn’t just help facilitate the intervention—she gave us the tools to communicate in a way that strengthened our relationships rather than fracturing them. Her presence always focused on the bigger picture: helping our loved one see that they were surrounded by people who deeply cared and wanted them to heal.
If you’re on the fence about whether to bring in an interventionist, I can say with confidence that Gianna is the person you want in your corner. She is a true professional with a heart of gold, and we are grateful for her guidance.
Gianna Yunker has been my lifeline through this journey with my loved one. She has been our mediator and family support system.
Starting with intervention, she helped our son make the decision to go into rehab, and continue through the step down process of Sober living, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient therapy (IOP) and the transition back to home . She has a comprehensive knowledge of how the system works and she was able to place him in the best possible location that suited his needs.
Gianna gained my son’s trust and he gave her permission to have access to his records, family and therapists. She calls him to encourage compliance , checks his breathalyzer daily, checks in with his progress at therapy, and updates family .
We learned our role in the healing process with Zoom meetings, reading materials, personal conversations, emails and texts.
We do not have to talk to our son about all the steps mentioned above. We just have to love him, show support and encourage him along the way. Our job is to learn the families’s role in supporting recovery and let the professionals do their job.
We have failed time and time again in the past.
Today, my son is 5 months sober.
I credit Gianna for making us all accountable for our journey and providing us access to the tools we need to travel this road together.
A grateful mother.
I cannot speak highly enough of Gianna and the miracles she facilitated for my family.
My sister and I had tried many times to help a family member choose the path of sobriety- always leading to failed attempts and unspoken resentments that fractured our family.
With Gianna, we found not only a resource but someone who quickly felt like a friend who was equipped with knowledge of this disease, empathy for everyone involved, and the desire and skills to help us lead with love and guide our loved one masterfully and gently towards the treatment they so desperately needed.
With her incredibly well thought out approach, I never felt as if we were flailing about or acting strictly out of emotions (although all of our emotions were address, and expressed, in the most effective of ways).
I felt confident that no matter the outcome, no matter which way the intervention went, I was now armed after our meetings with the skills and tools to protect my own peace of mind and proceed.
Luckily- we have had the best outcome you could imagine, and I will be singing Gianas praises for decades to come.
We are so happy that Gianna was able to assist our family with the intervention process.
We had no idea how to go about having the intervention, the language to use, backup plans, etc.
She met with us several times before the actual intervention and it all went far better than if we had tried to do it on our own.
Gianna answered all our questions and helped facilitate the process of getting our loved one into rehab.
Her composure and experience were invaluable during this highly emotional process. We are all very glad that we reached out to her and that she was able to help our family.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support in the weeks leading up to the intervention, and pure awe at your remarkable skills to bring it to a positive conclusion. I think I can speak for all of us that, after reading the letters, we thought it’d be very hard if not impossible to get our loved one to accept the help that day - given her reaction. Yet you just kept at it, calm and composed, until a wall after wall crumbled and she was able to say yes. It was remarkable to witness. Kudos to you!
What a blessing your support was to us. My husband will be celebrating two months sober on Friday and he's the healthiest version I've seen of himself in the last 10 years. He thrived in the men's relapse program. He is home with us and our two littles are so happy to have their daddy home. I'm also working really hard on myself with Al-Anon and therapy… some days are harder than others but we are both trying to work our own programs and do it one day at a time! I am so thankful for you!
Our family was desperate to save our son, who was diagnosed with late-stage alcoholism. He was dying before our very eyes, and he himself had no idea. I contacted local crisis intervention in our county to ask for help and, in turn, was guided to Sara, and then Gia. For this, I am eternally grateful because it was the hard and consistent work of intervention, with Gia's unending support, that led our son to agree to go to an amazing facility called Caron. The intervention brought the absolute most valuable people in Chad's world to a place where he would be able to heal and grow physically and mentally. Intervention is an amazing guided opportunity to help the family gain help for their loved one. We were told by medical staff that, should he not receive care and begin the process of recovery, he might not live many more months. And with that intervention, he chose inpatient treatment. It has indeed been a journey, and with the treatment, along with boundaries established through intervention, we have our son back. This is a lifelong journey for all of us, but I can report that he is doing very well, and we feel our son is back. We are grateful to Interventions with Love, and Gia. Without intervention, he may very well be in the streets with not much chance of living. People care, Gia cares. Intervention was and is critical to save a loved one.
Working with Gianna has been truly life-changing. Her guidance, insight, and support have helped me navigate one of the most difficult journeys of my life. After just one conversation, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders—she helped me realize that it’s not my job or responsibility to ‘fix’ my loved one, and that realization alone took so much pressure off. Her approach is compassionate, knowledgeable, and deeply reassuring. She provides a safe space to process the challenges of loving someone in addiction and offers practical tools that truly make a difference. I can’t express how much I appreciate her support and the freedom I’ve gained from working with her. If you’re feeling lost or overwhelmed, Gianna is the person you want in your corner!
Gianna is truly a master at her intervention skills and understanding people while remaining professional at every turn. She has incredible ideas for building a successful team for the intervention and, although there were many twists and turns, she helped us to successfully follow through in getting our son into treatment. She was there for us every step of the way to guide us through the process. Now we are working on trying to keep our son in treatment for the duration needed for him to be fully successful in the program, something we were not able to do before. There were many times we wanted to give in to his demands to keep the status quo. Gianna helped guide us to go beyond that to finally get the help he needed and for him to want to go to treatment. She truly understands what it takes to succeed. It would not have turned out as well, or at all, if she was not in our lives at this time of need. But it is not over yet. Our journey has just begun with treatment. But we are hopeful our son will complete it. Thank you, Gianna!
My daughter just completed her second week of training in her new job. She is seeing a vision for the future, and striving towards independence. She is trying to distance herself from all the emotional leeches in her life. Drawing boundaries and standing on them. Spending more time with family and wholesome friends. Seeing people for who they truly are and realizing her worth, which was practically non-existent before April 2023. I'm so proud of her. What a difference a year can make! I wanted to give you this update on the anniversary of her intervention. You are a part of this season of our lives.
When I realized that my daughter needed help with addiction beyond my capabilities, I knew I needed to reach out to someone with a high level of expertise and a proven record. I am so fortunate that my search led me to Interventions With Love. From my first conversation with Gianna Yunker, I felt that I had found someone with whom I could trust to try to bring my loved one to reason. In Gianna I found intelligence, understanding, compassion, and exceptional listening and communication skills. She took time to get to know me and most importantly my daughter, whom she had yet to meet. She was transparent as she outlined her role, method, timeline, and costs in the process.
Thank you for always being so quick and prompt. You saved us and are continuing to save us. I can’t even say how grateful I am and even put it into words. Your positivity and non-judgmental and loving approach is like exactly what this family needs. You're a very special person and I hope you know that the work you do is nothing short of a miracle.
When the time has come when you cannot allow your words of concern to be ignored by your loved one anymore, make this call. If your loved one can be reached they will be. There are many ways that well intentioned outreach can take a misstep. Gianna will guide you on the path where not only will your words be heard, but more importantly your love. Love conquers all.
Often when I’m interacting with another interventionist, I think about whether they’re someone I’d hire to work with a family member of my own, as my bar is high as it relates to professionalism, integrity, morals and ethics, depth of knowledge, experience, skill set, intentions, and organization. Gia has all the aforementioned qualities. She is dedicated to consistently doing the right thing, going above and beyond, and her motives are purely to serve and provide solutions. She is interested in the work we do as Interventionists, for the best reasons.
I was not sure what to expect through intervention. Gianna was wonderful helping us through the process. She is very knowledgeable in this area. She gave us hope, which we all needed. Gianna showed genuine concern for all parties involved, care, understanding, and compassion to our love one needing the intervention. Her soft spoken kindness, with truth, put all at ease. She help guide us through a most difficult period in our lives. I highly recommend Interventions With Love.
Gianna has been an invaluable source of support to our family in this journey. The education, the council, the coping skills and tools, the resources for support, the encouragement and understanding she has shown us, have all helped our family to become a little stronger as we move forward and prepare to further support our loved one when she accepts a treatment and recovery program. Gianna continues to reach out to us showing her care and compassion, and offering us her listening ear. She remains invested! It is only from a person with such a loving and caring heart that you will find this complete commitment. Gianna Yunker is just that person!
I want to thank you for all you have done for my son. It was certainly an uphill battle yesterday. I thought you handled it so well. Watching how you compassionately worked with my son to break his denial, show him how his deep depression, anxiety and OCD tendencies have affected his life and our family was beautiful. I am so grateful you were recommended to us. Thank you for all you did. Last night was the first night I have slept soundly in a long time.
From our very first meeting with Gianna, conveniently offered as a Zoom meeting to include all of our family members, we learned much about the disease of addiction. She explained that while we no longer see the person that we once knew and that our interactions with her are sometimes extreme and hurtful, it is the addiction itself that is speaking and driving her actions. Gianna was so kind and compassionate as she gathered information about our family and our concerns for our loved one. As Gianna was able to better understand some of the underlying issues which have contributed to her depression and addiction, she offered her support to us. She explained in detail the process that Interventions With Love uses and how she prepares families to present an intervention in a loving way to help bring a loved one to accept the gift of a first step in a treatment and recovery program. We all came away from that first meeting feeling encouraged that we had finally found a pathway to help our family….and that Gianna Yunker was absolutely the right person who could provide us with the tools and guidance that we so needed.
Gianna was amazing helping us have a conversation with love and turning a stressful situation into a smooth and calm resolution for all parties. She helped everyone involved and supported us with each step along the way! Cannot recommend her enough!
Gianna’s background with her own family or origin included generational addiction and trauma and I’ve seen firsthand the healing she’s been able to effect in her family and thus has a keen interest in working with the whole family system, to create more sustainable longer term recovery for both the patient and his or her family.
Gianna’s knowledge and experience has been invaluable to our family as we are navigating the recovery of our loved one. Her guidance in helping us set boundaries and understanding enabling behaviors has been very useful in helping us to eliminate the chaos and drama that we were experiencing as a family. We have learned so much about the disease of alcoholism and what is involved in the journey of recovery. Her loving and caring suggestions have also helped us improve communication with each other. Gianna is very passionate about helping families.
Gianna, You were a blessing in the process of helping us and our Son to navigate to acceptance of help with this disease. Your kindness, patience, and compassion instructing us through the process was invaluable. We feel so fortunate to have you as our Interventionist. Thank you and God bless you.
My "intervention" wasn't anywhere near how this intervention was. Now, I can look back and say mine was not an intervention. You are amazing and so was/is this process. Had we not had your guidance, I don't believe it would have been so successful!!
Gianna, my applause to you for doing an outstanding program to prepare for the meeting Saturday and truly believe we were successful because of your efforts in organizing the MIRACLE TEAM.
Please know from a hurting mom, you're a blessing to me and my family right now. My heart is a little less heavy right now knowing we are taking steps so thank you SO much!
