# Eating Disorder Interventions

*Specialized support for eating disorders*

Family-centered intervention, treatment guidance, coaching, and ongoing support for individuals and families navigating anorexia, bulimia, ARFID, binge eating disorder, and other complex eating disorders.

## About this service

Eating disorders require a specialized approach. The behaviors are often hidden, the medical and psychological risks can be significant, and families are frequently left feeling frightened, confused, and unsure how to help.

Intervention is only one part of the process. We work with families to determine the most appropriate path forward, whether that involves a structured intervention, specialized treatment placement, family systems coaching, or ongoing support throughout recovery. Because eating disorders are complex illnesses, identifying the right level of care and the right treatment team is one of the most important decisions a family can make. Our recommendations are informed by years of experience working alongside leading eating disorder treatment programs, collaborating with multidisciplinary treatment teams, and supporting families through every stage of the recovery process.

Families play a vital role in recovery. Together, we focus on understanding the illness, improving communication, creating appropriate structure and support at home, and helping family members feel more confident in their role. Our goal is to equip families with the knowledge, tools, and guidance they need to support recovery while also caring for themselves.

## Common questions

### How are eating disorder interventions different from substance use interventions?

Eating disorders often require a more gradual, collaborative approach that considers both the psychological and medical aspects of the illness. Every family and every situation is different, which is why we tailor our approach based on the individual's needs, level of medical risk, family dynamics, and readiness for treatment.

### When should we seek help?

Families do not need to wait until a situation becomes life-threatening before reaching out. If eating behaviors are affecting physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, or daily functioning, an early consultation can help families understand their options and determine appropriate next steps.

### Do you help with treatment placement?

Yes. Treatment placement is often an important part of this work. We help families identify specialized eating disorder programs that best fit their loved one's clinical needs, medical concerns, age, family situation, and recovery goals.

### Will our family be involved?

Absolutely. Families play an essential role in recovery. We work closely with parents, partners, siblings, and other loved ones to improve communication, strengthen support, and help everyone better understand both the illness and the recovery process.

### Do you only work with adolescents?

No. We work with adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing eating disorders. We also support parents, spouses, partners, and other family members as they navigate the challenges that eating disorders can bring to the entire family system.
