## What Happens in the Group?

Living Alongside Recovery is a free, virtual family support group designed for anyone who has been impacted by a loved one's addiction, mental health challenges, or other life struggles affecting the family system.

The group combines education, skill-building, support, and open discussion in a welcoming environment where family members can learn from one another and realize they are not alone.

Rather than focusing solely on your loved one's behavior, we explore how family members can care for themselves, communicate more effectively, set healthy boundaries, and navigate difficult situations with greater clarity and confidence.

The group follows an ongoing curriculum focused on family recovery and healing. Topics include boundaries, communication, enabling versus supporting, emotional wellness, family roles, grief, trust, self-care, and the process of recovery within the family system. Each session introduces a new topic and creates space for discussion, reflection, and connection.

### A Typical Evening

**Welcome and Connection.** Each meeting begins with a warm welcome and an opportunity to connect. Participants are invited to share what is on their minds, reflect on recent challenges or successes, and engage with others who understand the unique experience of supporting a loved one while navigating their own recovery journey.

**Curriculum and Discussion.** Each week focuses on a specific topic related to family recovery, communication, boundaries, or family systems. We explore practical concepts, share experiences, and discuss how these ideas apply to real-life situations.

**Open Sharing and Support.** Participants are invited to ask questions, share challenges, and learn from others who understand the unique experience of loving someone who is struggling.

**Closing Reflection.** We end with key takeaways and practical ideas participants can carry with them into the week ahead.

### Who Is This Group For?

This group is open to family members and loved ones. You do not need to have all the answers, and your loved one does not need to be in treatment or recovery for you to attend.

Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, uncertain, or simply looking for support and connection, you are welcome here.

### Important Note

This group is educational and supportive in nature and is not a substitute for therapy, medical care, or crisis services.
